2-methyl-1-propanol is an organic synthetic material used in the manufacture of petroleum additives, antioxidant 2, 6-di-tert-butyl p-cresol, isobutyl acetate (coating solvent), plasticizer, synthetic rubber, artificial musk, fruit essential oil, and synthetic drugs, as well as in the purification of strontium, barium, lithium and other salt chemical reagents and as a superior solvent. It is an edible spice permitted by GB 2760-2014.
